hands, heart, light

Healing doesn’t create my light. It helps me remember it was never gone.

July 22

For much of my life, I believed I needed to become someone else before I could fully shine.

I’ve learned something very different.

The light isn’t something I earn.

It isn’t something another person gives me.

And it isn’t something I lose.

It has always been here.

Sometimes it’s hidden beneath fear.

Old beliefs.

Protective patterns.

Grief.

Shame.

Or the habit of looking outside myself for permission to be who I already am.

Healing doesn’t create the light.

It gently clears away everything that convinced me it wasn’t there.

I’ve also learned that the brightest light isn’t loud.

It doesn’t compete.

It doesn’t need to prove itself.

It simply shines.

The more honestly I know myself…

The more gently I accept myself…

The more faithfully I live what I know to be true…

The brighter that light becomes, not because it is growing, but because less is covering it.

Staying close to Spirit reminds me of who I already am.

Truth grounds me.

Love guides me.

Peace naturally follows.

Today I won’t borrow someone else’s light.

I won’t wait for permission.

I’ll simply remember what has been true all along.

Years ago, my daughter reminded me, “Don’t let other people dim your light.” I’ve come to understand that in a new way. Other people don’t determine the brightness of my light. But I can forget it’s there when I believe fear, shame, criticism, or old stories more than I believe the truth of who I am. Healing is the quiet remembering that the light was never lost. It was simply waiting beneath the static.

Grounding Questions

What beliefs have been covering my light rather than revealing it?

Where am I looking outside myself for permission to be who I already am?

What would change today if I trusted that the light within me has never gone out?
