July 24

Pain is part of life. It doesn't have to be the loudest part. The stories I tell myself about pain determine so much of how I move through it.

July 24

For much of my life, I believed that if something was going to be difficult, I needed to brace myself for it.

I tightened.

I anticipated.

I rehearsed every possible worst-case scenario.

I thought I was protecting myself.

I’ve learned that bracing often creates more suffering than the moment itself.

That doesn’t mean life won’t hurt.

Grief hurts.

Loss hurts.

Love hurts sometimes.

But I don’t have to add fear, resistance, or frightening stories to the pain that’s already here.

Healing isn’t about avoiding difficult emotions.

It’s about learning that I can move through them without abandoning myself.

I’ve also discovered that my expectations shape my experience.

When I expect only danger, I overlook possibility.

When I expect only struggle, I miss the grace quietly walking beside me.

That doesn’t mean pretending everything is easy.

It means remaining open to the possibility that something beautiful may also be unfolding.

Gratitude helps me remember this.

It doesn't erase hardship.

But it widens my vision.

It reminds me that even in difficult seasons, the fingerprints of Love are still everywhere.

A kind conversation.

A bird at just the right moment.

A deep breath.

A laugh.

A sunrise.

A quiet knowing.

The miracle isn’t always that life changes.

Sometimes the miracle is that I notice Love was present all along.

Today I’ll soften my grip on the stories that create fear.

I’ll stay open to wonder.

And I’ll trust that grace often arrives in ways I never expected.

Grounding Questions

What story am I telling myself about this situation?

Is that story helping me move forward with greater peace and clarity?

Where have I already seen the fingerprints of Love in my life today?
