I’m Dawn Hennessey — educator, trauma and grief healing guide, and founder of Luma Dawn Healing.
My path to this work was forged through a lifetime of trauma that I didn’t fully recognize until the unthinkable happened. For years, I carried pain quietly, doing what so many of us do: surviving, achieving, keeping it all together. I tried therapy, self-help, EMDR; all of it helped a little, but nothing reached the depth of what lived inside me.
Then, within just a few years, life unraveled completely. My daughter took her own life. My husband died from cancer. And not long before that, I had lost my home to a hurricane. Those experiences shattered every illusion of safety I’d ever known and brought me to my knees: face-to-face with grief, with Spirit, and with myself.
But what I found in that darkness was something sacred: a reawakening of my connection to Spirit, to healing, and to the resilience of the human heart. Guided by my daughter and the mentors who appeared through The Intention Academy, I learned how to integrate trauma through both science and soul. That work didn’t just help me survive; it transformed me. It became the foundation of my calling: to help others find their own way back to wholeness.
Before stepping fully into this work, I spent over 26 years in education as a teacher and academic coach, walking beside others through growth and transformation. That experience taught me how to hold space for learning; and now, I hold space for healing.
My purpose is simple: to help others discover what I did: that even after the deepest loss and the longest night, light can return. Not the light you had before, but a new one, born from truth, presence, and love.
Luma Dawn Healing is more than a practice; it’s a living promise that no matter how dark it’s been, your soul still knows the way home.
